Critter of the Month: French Fry

French Fry is a lively 2-year-old dachshund-terrier mix (with a few mystery breeds thrown in for good measure). We adopted him from 1 Love Dog Rescue in Auburn, CA - and the moment we saw his photo, we knew he was meant to be part of our family. He looked just like our other dog, Curly - except with white fur and an extra dash of mischief in his eyes.

Meet French Fry!

French Fry is a lively 2-year-old dachshund-terrier mix (with a few mystery breeds thrown in for good measure). We adopted him from 1 Love Dog Rescue in Auburn, CA—and the moment we saw his photo, we knew he was meant to be part of our family. He looked just like our other dog, Curly—except with white fur and an extra dash of mischief in his eyes.

This little guy is equal parts cuddle bug and chaos gremlin. French Fry is always ready for a snuggle session, but don’t let that fool you—he’s got a sassy streak and a playful energy that keeps us on our toes. His favorite hobbies include chasing other dogs at the park, scavenging the kitchen floor for snacks, and curling up with his big brother, Curly.

His dislikes? Being moved from the couch to his crate after 9 PM—by that time, he’s deep in relaxation mode and doesn’t appreciate being disturbed. He also has a very specific internal clock for dinnertime. Every evening, like clockwork, he enters what we lovingly call his “witching hour”—a burst of playful, frenzied energy that doesn’t let up until his bowl is filled.

French Fry was diagnosed with Addison’s disease about eight months ago, which means he needs daily meds and monthly injections. While the diagnosis was a big change, it hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He’s still the bright, bouncy pup we know and love. Huge thanks to the amazing team at Campus Vet for guiding us through his care—they’ve truly made all the difference.

We feel so lucky to have French Fry in our lives. He may be small, but his personality (and heart) are anything but.
